View Company ProfileOthersphere identifies the most profitable and sustainable locations for deployment of zero / low GHG industrial technologies, with initial focus on hydrogen. Our software platform tightly integrates energy systems models and geospatial analytics to enable:
Faster deployment of more beneficial projects
Democratized access to critical market insights
Reduced long-term GHG emissions trajectories
Our early development funding and support was provided by Breakthrough Energy and Google for Startups, and we have recently closed an equity investment round with participation from leading climate-focused investors. We are currently in closed beta mode, with product launch planned for late 2023. Right now we are operating with a limited public profile, but are happy to provide further information on team, strategy, and mission during the application process.
Othersphere is incorporated as a Benefit Company, and we seek candidates with a personal commitment to fairness, humility, curiosity, and passion for positive impact—values that are central to our mission. We are committed to representation and inclusion, and we welcome applicants with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Othersphere is seeking a skilled front-end developer to extend our existing web application. You would be building out a front-end web-app in React, where you will be expected to:
Extend our geospatial analytics components, in particular high-performance maps with H3 tile overlays (e.g. https://explorer.helium.com/)
Develop visually impressive reactive charts and metrics which seamlessly update as dashboard inputs are changed
Work with existing component libraries and styling toolkits to accelerate development - we are currently using MUI, but are open to change at this early stage
Expand tool functionality based on user feedback, existing low-fidelity designs, and working proof of concept tool
Iterate rapidly and release new versions often
Attend regular stand-ups, backlog grooming sessions, and retrospectives, to ensure we are always moving in the right direction, quickly and sustainably
You'll report to Othersphere’s CTO, but work closely and collaboratively with the CEO, CPO, growing team, and network of advisors to bring our technology directly to our users, leveraging your creativity and experience to help shape the direction of our product.
We seek to build and maintain an exciting and inclusive working culture where you feel safe expressing who you are, making you feel valued and respected, and giving you an opportunity to thrive and build a product you can be proud of.
In addition to this, we will provide:
Freedom to make decisions on tools, technologies, and features, as long as they are reasonable and match our goals and direction
A stable API to build against, and a fast response when you require changes or improvements
A continuous integration and deployment pipeline to allow you to iterate as rapidly as you can, and spend your energy building features rather than wrestling with tools
Availability from everyone on the team to answer questions and help get you un-blocked as quickly as possible
Regular feedback to help you grow in your role as quickly as possible, and a team of colleagues always open to hearing your feedback and insights
Othersphere provides competitive compensation, benefits, and company equity commensurate with experience. For this role the expected salary range is $100,000 to $140,000 Canadian dollars, or local equivalent. We are a remote-first organization headquartered in Victoria, BC, Canada, with a growing presence in Europe. But irrespective of where you sit, we are actively working to foster team cohesion and personal connection through annual company retreats and regular in-person get-togethers.
