Job Description

Role title: Fleet Deployment Specialist

Bristol or Remote

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

In Field Operations, part of OVO Retail, we are working hard to give every member a route to leading a carbon zero lifestyle at home, beginning with the rollout of smart metering systems that will enable them to control their energy and make choices about how they become more energy efficient. You’ll be part of an ambitious team who are restless and passionate about creating a better future for all. We are always open to new things, and curious to create solutions that our customers will love. We are constantly learning to innovate the way we operate and set bold goals that deliver on our strategic priorities.

Working in Supply Chain, you’ll be supporting the rollout of electric vehicles across OVO Retail, starting in Field Operations.  We’ve secured the funding required to transition our fleet to electric by the end of 2023.  This role brings significant autonomy from day one, working alongside some of the biggest suppliers in the EV market.  You’ll become a sustainability and carbon zero pioneer. Your passion and energy to drive these key initiatives forward will be vital for our journey and evolving business. The role is expected to grow and you will have an opportunity to influence both this and your own growth.

What will I be doing?

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Taking ownership for the delivery of electric vehicles, contributing to the creation and ongoing development of a scalable delivery methodology and governance structure that meets our time, budget, scope and quality ambitions and commitments.
  • Responsible for directing the day-to-day work and managing allocation and utilisation of multi-disciplinary teams, including suppliers, in a matrix-managed setting.
  • Engage with suppliers to resolve complaints, recognise positive comments/feedback and investigate expressions of dissatisfaction.
  • Work constructively with the Fleet Deployment Manager to understand how we embed a better driver experience as we roll-out and embed electric vehicles across OVO Retail.
  • You will establish close partnerships with team managers, regional performance managers and other people leaders to lead effective work on a variety of areas (i.e. public charging, van stock planograms, driving behaviour change). This will include working closely with the Fleet Deployment Manager to bring issues and risks to the attention of the Field Operations senior leadership team.
  • You’ll liaise with drivers to ensure they know what to expect and when, together with ensuring a smooth onboarding experience as they transition to a new electric vehicle.
  • Help to build a culture of creative thinking and constructive debate, making sure that you and the Fleet team draws on the most valuable perspectives and ideas to tackle obstacles and barriers to the successful deployment of electric vehicles by the end of 2022.
  • Perform cost and data analysis and identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses and carbon footprint impacts. Review recommendations with Fleet Deployment Manager to implement improvements.

Do I have what it takes?

  • This role would suit somebody who has a real positive attitude and who is easily able to connect and interact with people and operate as part of an already successful team.
  • Good existing network across Field Operations and ability to build new and leverage existing professional relationships
  • A history of delivering projects on time, in budget and to defined quality standards through a matrix structure, balancing fun and productivity at work.
  • Be forward thinking, be capable of forward planning and be capable of identifying risks that require effective mitigation to keep projects on track.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels within OVO
  • The ability to “keep it simple” and provide clear and concise information
  • Problem-solving abilities that adapt to a variety of situations and comfortable making well balanced decisions even when under pressure

Diverse teams are the best teams

We’re keen to meet people with varied backgrounds: the more inclusive we are the better our work will be. We want to build a team which represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, and we decide employment on the basis of merit and potential. We understand some people may not apply to jobs unless they tick every box. And we know 'normal' office hours don't work for everyone, so we're open to discussing flexible working requests. If you're excited about joining us and think you have much of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure… we'd love to hear from you.
