Job Description

Based in Portland, Ride Report is a small software company accelerating the transition to a sustainable and efficient transportation system.
Over 50 cities around the world are using Ride Report to help manage the emergence of new and innovative forms of transportation – particularly shared micromobility, such as electric scooters and bikes. As our Head of Technology, you'll work with the CEO and others to define, communicate and deliver our strategical technical roadmap. Managing our Core Technology team, you will oversee the budget and systems for our core technical infrastructure. You'll act as the spokesperson for our technical vision both inside and outside the organization. Working with technology leaders and individual contributors from other teams, you will create and maintain the practices and environment that uphold and advance technical excellence throughout the organization.
What you'll do, and the skills and experience you'll need to do it
Technology LeadershipExperience building and deploying modern SaaS technology with specific technical expertise in engineering infrastructure and large-scale data systems. Lead the technical roadmap and strategy with keeping key business metrics and goals at the forefront. Proven experience defining and tracking toward technical engineering outcomes/goals/OKRs. Has been the technical leader for both 1.0 products as well as at scale. Finally, ability to represent the engineering function of Ride Report externally in conferences, webinars, working groups, etc.Engineering Process/RigorFocus on improving engineering performance at scale. Passion around creating and improving engineering organizations. Demonstrated ability to define and measure the appropriate metrics and can iterate as needed with the goal of maximizing engineering performance and operational efficiency. Able to set the vision for the long term, development of new ideas, and quarter by quarter plan.Influencer/Cross-functional EmpathyExperience establishing cross-functional relationships. Invites input from others outside the engineering organization. Takes a shared ownership approach to the business. Experience maneuvering through a complex, cross-functional landscape. Can represent the interests of the engineering organization and yet be fair to other groups and is sensitive to how they function. Low ego, team player, and can reach consensus with a minimum of noise.Start-Up Experience/Scale UpLays out the strategy for the engineering organization as it pertains to talent and skillsets. Understand the process to scale up and deliver through that part of the company journey. Able to consistently deliver product on time in a high growth environment.Culture FitEmbraces and sees the value in building engineering teams that reflect the mission. Manages all kinds and classes of people equitably. Demonstrated ability to incorporate diversity at every level of the engineering organization. Inspires others; develop a roadmap, rally the team around it, and execute. Is proactive in learning about team members and supporting their growth.   • Salary for this role will be determined based on the candidate's number of years of experience. Ride Report uses market data to transparently set the salary of every employee in a fair and standardized way. Learn why we don't negotiate our salaries and publish them instead.
