At Span, we are building products that enable the rapid adoption of renewable energy like home solar, batteries, and electric vehicles. The Span Smart Panel replaces the standard electrical panel to become the center for connected power in the home, providing revolutionary insights and home energy controls through the Span mobile app.

The Role 

To complement our rapid growth, we are seeking a passionate Corporate Counsel to join our team. You will be the second legal hire and help build our legal department, reporting directly to the General Counsel.

• Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with partners, vendors, and customers, including Master Services Agreements, NDAs, and Partnership Agreements
• Provide legal counsel to, and collaborate with, teams throughout the company, including Sales, Business Development, Finance, and Product
• Act as the point of contact for internal business clients for contract questions and concerns
• Develop, implement, and continually improve standard form agreements and legal processes to help us scale
• Other projects as assigned including stretch subjects
• Think ahead, see around corners, and help prepare for legal issues that may arise in the future

About You 

Required Qualifications

We are seeking a Corporate Counsel who has:

• 3+ years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house
• J.D. from an accredited law school and member of the California Bar in good standing
• Significant experience reviewing, negotiating, and drafting a wide range of complex commercial agreements
• Track record of successfully collaborating with teams throughout the organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter with proven ability to achieve results and work independently
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving workplace
• Intellectually curious with a sense of humor
