The company is backed by a diverse set of committed investors and we have raised over $100M to date.Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced project engineer to lead the engineering of utility-scale projects utilizing Form’s multi-day energy storage product. In this role, you will oversee project engineering from early conceptual design through full construction design. You will take the lead in managing and solving technical challenges related to the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of pilot and commercial scale projects. You will work closely with EPC partners to align plant-level design with product requirements. This is a critical role to ensure the successful execution and deployment of Form’s multi-day battery product and its integration with auxiliary systems and balance of plant components. The ideal candidate should be comfortable communicating frequently with internal and external stakeholders and shall be capable of working both collaboratively and independently.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead engineering team and EPC contractors in design development, including schematic plans, site layout, electrical diagrams, and detailed engineering
  • Review and markup engineering drawings, technical reports, construction plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, permit applications etc.
  • Develop and own the balance of plant design package, such as site civil design, site safety, AC interconnection
  • Interpret relevant federal, state, and local agency codes and regulations and ensure compliance within the project and site design
  • Support EPC contractors with interconnection and permitting applications as needed
  • Support activities related to construction, operation and maintenance of the energy storage system as needed
  • Review and approve submittals during the construction phase of the project
  • Work closely with Form’s systems engineering and product management teams to document and communicate requirements and specifications to external stakeholders
  • Identify cost and schedule drivers and project attributes that can be optimized to meet cost and schedule targets
  • Support project manager from initial planning to deployment, especially with regards to document control, budget oversight, quality control, schedule, contract management and reporting
  • Travel to client or project sites up to 30% of the time

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project engineering or project management
  • Demonstrated track record of executing utility-scale energy storage and/or renewable energy projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, project planning, preliminary design, detailed design and engineering, permitting, interconnection, troubleshooting, and commissioning
  • Solid understanding of energy storage systems, including power electronics, AC and DC systems, switchgears, transformers, meters, SCADA, and other balance of plant components
  • Experience with first-of-a-kind or pilot projects a plus
  • Ability to coordinate and engage with external stakeholders, including clients, developers, EPC contractors, independent engineers, and AHJs
  • Resourceful team player capable of collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, product management, supply chain, manufacturing
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licence preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering required; Master’s or other advanced degree a plus
