SUMMARY 

Nexamp is seeking a Director to join our Policy team and lead and broaden the impact of our ongoing policy and regulatory affairs efforts across the Northeast. The Northeast Policy Director will report to Nexamp’s Vice President of Policy and oversee Nexamp’s policy engagement in New England and New York. The Policy Director will manage regional team members and external resources and will work collaboratively with the broader policy, development, finance, and communications teams to advance outcomes that expand the national market opportunity and access to renewable energy for our customers. This role will be responsible for analyzing, communicating, and advancing a portfolio of state and regional policy issues impacting Nexamp’s solar and storage development and deployment efforts. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee the development of Nexamp’s Northeast policy team through effective objective setting, deliberate delegation, and clear communication 
  • Advocate on behalf of various Nexamp business units to expand the market opportunity and facilitate the execution of strategic business and mission-oriented objectives 
  • Monitor and report state, regional, and federal legislative and regulatory policy developments impacting solar/storage development and operations in Nexamp’s key Northeast geographic customer segments 
  • Prepare and implement annual (and ad-hoc) strategic planning to detail Nexamp’s efforts to improve state and ISO-NE markets for renewable energy and battery storage deployment 
  • Analyze policy and regulatory trends likely to impact Nexamp operations and communicate relevance to key business teams and leaders, as appropriate 
  • Identify opportunities for Nexamp to lead transformative improvements to regional energy policy issues   
  • Advance policies favorable to Nexamp-specifically, and solar industry more broadly before state, regional, and federal policymakers and other stakeholders 
  • Represent company before industry associations, government officials, and other external engagements 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key policy stakeholders and bolster Nexamp’s reputation as trusted collaborators for thoughtful, long-term market outcomes. 
  • Participate in trade association meetings; network with industry colleagues and build alliances across diverse industry disciplines 
  • Work independently and a team leader to develop policy positions, implement policy strategy, and identify new business opportunities on behalf of the organization 
  • Support various other Policy team and corporate initiatives, as needed 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Commitment to Nexamp’s mission and a passion for solving tomorrow’s climate crisis today 
  • Five to seven years of public policy experience at either state or federal level  
  • Demonstrated policy advocacy in deregulated energy markets and/or regional wholesale electricity markets 
  • Management experience preferred 
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills 
  • Comfortable learning quickly 
  • Experience balancing competing priorities and managing multiple projects 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment 
  • Knowledge of issues impacting solar and storage industries preferred
