Job Description

The OVO Group’s mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach zero, we need everyone to come together. Not as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal.

When we launched in 2009, we set out to make energy better. We brought great service, clear information and honesty to the industry. These days our sights are set even higher - and we’d love you to be part of that journey.

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be working within the Regulatory and Compliance Data Team, as part of OVO’s Risk and Compliance function, reporting into the Senior Regulatory Data Analyst.

The wider Risk and Compliance function is responsible for ensuring that all areas of the retail business are aware and understand their risk and regulatory responsibilities; ensuring a high level of compliance and a well defined risk appetite. As part of this, the Regulatory and Compliance Data team creates and provides analysis and insight to both the regulator and internal stakeholders.

What will I be doing?

You will be responsible for completing, validating and submitting regulatory reports and information requests in an accurate and timely manner to industry bodies such as BEIS and Ofgem, and supporting the Senior Analyst in creating insight to drive compliance improvements across the business. You will also provide analytical support to the wider Risk & Compliance team, including the Audit and Risk teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure timely and accurate report submissions to regulatory bodies
  • Support the business in providing data for external information requests
  • Create and maintain regulatory reporting SQL and Big Query scripts and procedures
  • Analyse complex data and present to senior stakeholders highlighting areas of risk for the business
  • Provide analytical and process support on internal audits and business-wide risk assessments
  • Be able and prepared to confidently explain methodology of calculations to regulatory bodies and stakeholders

Is this the job for me?

The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills, including experience using query platforms such as Google Big Query or MS SQL Server, as well as experience working within an analytical role.

Ideally you will have:

  • Technical analytical skills including the use of platforms such as Google Big Query, Tableau and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to validate reports and data
  • Strong organisational, time management and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure effective completion of all reports in a timely manner
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear and understandable summaries
  • Knowledge of the energy industry
