The Organization Rainforest Action Network (RAN) campaigns internationally to preserve forests, protect the climate and uphold human rights by challenging corporate power and systemic injustice through research, education, partnerships, peaceful direct action, grassroots organizing, strategic campaigns and communications. &nbsp;&nbsp; In partnership with international allies, RAN works with Indigenous and frontline communities directly impacted by profit-driven systems of injustice, challenging corporations to stop destructive operations, respect human rights, and adopt policies that reduce their contributions to climate change. <li>Full time (remote or hybrid), an anticipated starting base salary equivalent to USD $65 - $75K</li>
<li>Staff are expected to work flexibly across time zones</li>
<li>Benefits include paid health, dental, and vision insurance for staff and partner/family</li>
<li>4 weeks annual leave (5 weeks after 2 years), paid winter break, 3% employer match retirement plan</li>
<li>Eligible for a 12-week fully paid sabbatical after 5 years of service</li>

&nbsp;&nbsp; The Role In this role you will develop and drive corporate campaigns to push the Japanese financial sector to halt its support of industries that drive deforestation, climate change, and human rights abuses. Specifically, you will support finance sector campaigning activities in and related to Japan, including the forests and finance and climate and energy programs. &nbsp;&nbsp; You will design and coordinate strategy, collaborate with national and international partners, conduct policy analysis, and engage directly with corporate decision makers. You will undertake analysis of the policies and practices of financial institutions relating to forestry, agriculture, and energy sectors. You will also;
<ul>
<li>Co-design, and oversee implementation of campaign tactics including digital, communications and organizing strategies, including direct action</li>
<li>Write and review compelling communications materials for reporters, supporters, funders, and partners</li>
<li>Represent RAN as a spokesperson with media and at public events</li>
<li>Contribute to building an inclusive and collaborative team culture, in conjunction with Japan and internationally based staff</li>
</ul>
 Skills Required You are already ideally engaged in environment or climate advocacy in Japan, or other rights related campaigning, or have equivalent transferable experience. Ideally you have an understanding of socio-economic systems, supply chains and human rights/environmental issues. You will be a natural collaborator, a strong facilitator and have a global perspective to digest complex, technical subjects presenting them in engaging language to non-expert audiences in both English and Japanese. You also have;

<li>Excellent project management and organizational skills</li>
<li>Commitment to climate justice, human and Indigenous rights and RAN&rsquo;s mission and values</li>
<li>Experience with, or interest and eagerness to learn, about direct action campaigns</li>
<li>Commitment to racial justice and equity, and an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations</li>
<li>Native level Japanese language, work and residency rights for Japan are essential to perform this role</li>
