What does a Senior Platform Engineer at Myst do?

As a Senior SWE working on Myst's Platform, you’ll play a key role in our software development team. This includes driving design and architecture decisions, contributing to our software product, and advocating for product excellence.

A successful candidate has at least five years of work experience in a world-class software engineering environment or equivalent, and a proven record of being an effective collaborator. As a startup, we're always tackling new challenges. We prioritize candidates who learn quickly and make wise decisions across a variety of domains. Our current tech stack is Python and JavaScript (including React, Redux, Typescript, Material Design Components). Our infrastructure is hosted in Google Cloud Platform and includes a variety of services and databases. Our codebase is thoroughly unit tested and our CI/CD pipelines are fully automated. 

What might you work on:

• Developing features that streamline and automate time series forecasting at scale
• Influencing the architecture of the forecasting platform through engineering design discussions and mentorship
• Designing fault tolerant, self-healing systems to ensure on-time forecast delivery
• Optimization of time series and relational databases to support hundreds of thousands of operations per second
• Designing elastic, responsive backend infrastructure to scale in response to scheduled and unscheduled processes
• Improving tooling for automated monitoring, alerting, and integration testing
• Promoting code quality and engineering best practices within the company

What do you need to be successful:

• 5+ years of work experience in a software engineering environment, building a product at scale
• Ability to produce production-quality Python code, using Python's native packaging tools
• Proven track record of shipping commercially successful software platforms or best-in-class technologies
• Experience with building scalable SaaS products with a focus on providing data insights that have scaled to many hundreds of customers
• High attention to detail and focus on product excellence for external users
• Collaborate effectively with other engineers and internal and external stakeholders to break down requirements and build consensus
