In this role, you will support the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Counsels by assisting with the provision of a wide variety of legal services for Beyond Meat’s growing organization. The role requires expertise in organizing information and drafting guidance documents for corporate litigation, corporate governance, contract review, and regulatory compliance. The role will also require developing relationships with various business unit contacts and managing projects to completion with guidance from the Chief Legal Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with corporate governance matters for domestic & international entities, maintain corporate books, draft/negotiate contracts, maintain legal matter databases.
  • Maintain and organize legal files (both paper and electronic).
  • Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, reports, and presentations as needed.
  • Work with company and non-company personnel to follow up on legal matters and gather information for projects.
  • Conduct guided legal research and writing.
  • Maintain a strong sense of confidentiality and respect regarding sensitive company and employee information.
  • Work with the Legal Team during all stages of corporate transactions
  • Draft corporate filings and related minutes, resolutions, waivers, approvals of action and similar documents.
  • Working alongside Corporate Counsel, prepare documents necessary to further business activities; drafting, review, negotiation, and revision of various types of agreements, including:
o   Leases and subleaseso   Joint venture (LLC) agreementso   Franchise and brand license agreements o   Design and construction contractso   Procurement contracts, including distribution, purchasing and supply agreementso   Vendor (services) agreements, including HR-related agreementso   Consulting and professional services agreementso   Acquisition and sale agreementso   Property agreements, including office leases and other leaseso   Information technology agreementso   Confidentiality agreements
  • Work with and respond timely to the needs of internal and external stakeholders in the areas of Growth, Operations, Innovation, HR, Information Technology and Marketing in an advisory, strategic, and collaborative role
  • Work in a cost-effective manner with outside counsel, as necessary
  • Conduct legal research as required to provide guidance on contract compliance and legal/regulatory requirements
  • Provide general assistance and administrative support to Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Counsel. 

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent required, BA degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate from an approved program of the American Bar Association
  • 3+ years of experience in-house as a corporate/transactional paralegal
  • Strong proficiency with key tools, including ability to create/use Google and Word documents, Spreadsheets, Google Drive, Slack and willingness to learn new technical tools to help the team
  • ·Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Ability to understand, use and interpret legal language
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently under a tight time schedule
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law administration
  • Outstanding judgement, even in ambiguous situations, and discretion with confidential matters
