Job Description

OVERVIEW

Terramera is seeking a Senior Director, Business Development with proven transaction experience to join our growing team. This position drives to deliver on the Company’s key commercial strategic objectives and is a client-facing role with close communication and interaction with external stakeholders. Frequent travel is required for this position.

YOUR MISSION

To support the Company’s commercialization and licensing initiatives by sourcing, developing, and closing key licensing and other strategic relationships.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Chief Revenue Officer and works closely with members of the Company’s Legal, IP, Strategic Initiatives, Finance and R&D teams to source, develop and close on key relationships and transactions, particularly with respect to licensing the Company’s extensive IP portfolio.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Research, screen and track relevant prospects within the Ag industry to identify potential partners / customers
  • Via the company Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, create and actively manage (daily) a database of prospective information, including appropriate contacts with decision-making authority
  • Build business cases and financial justifications for potential licensing details
  • Establish, maintain, and track strong relationships with key prospects, partners, and customers
  • Develop and present effective presentations and proposals at client meetings, industry exhibits, tradeshows, and conferences
  • Support and / or lead key due diligence, negotiation, and other transaction execution-related activities in collaboration with IP, Legal, Finance, R&D, Strategic Initiatives and Licensing
  • Perform other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the job

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree in Science, Business, or relevant discipline. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant business development experience, preferably in an innovation industry
  • Strong level of financial and business acumen to be able to drive results for breadth of initiatives
  • Technical background / knowledge in Biology, Chemistry or Agronomy preferred
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a CRM tool (HubSpot preferred)
  • Proven experience researching and screening companies
  • Understanding / familiarity with development and licensing of intellectual property
  • Experience with lead generation and prospect management
  • Proven transaction and negotiation experience
