Japanese Language Translator (volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6 months commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position.

The climate emergency we currently face requires adequate and immediate action. It is one of the most threatening crises of our time. Responsibilities

• Improve the Japanese version of the Earth Hero app. It is already available in Japanese, but we could use more help to maintain and improve it.
• Advise on better customizing the Earth Hero app for users in Japan, beyond language updates.
• Help translate the Earth Hero website into Japanese.
• Support making the Japanese app version easier to find by improving search terms so it gets discovered more easily.

Experiences useful in this role

• Fluent in Japanese.
• Current with the latest Japanese-language idioms and cultural references.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) software or open to learning.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 2 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread worldwide, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.
