About the Job
Do you want to use your passion and talent to make consumption more sustainable?
We're Europe's fastest-growing marketplace for refurbished products, empowering customers to acquire items up to 40% cheaper while making a substantial impact on reducing CO2 emissions compared to buying new devices.
Since our launch in February 2017, we grew to more than 300 employees and expanded across the European region. Throughout this journey, we've successfully concluded three substantial funding rounds, selling hundreds of thousands of products. Thanks to our team's efforts, we were recognized as the Top Employer in the DACH region (2023 and 2024) by Kununu and secured the title of an ACM Preferred Employer (2023).
The Head of Legal (f/m/x) will play a crucial role as an enabler to tackle new business opportunities, in ensuring legal compliance and mitigating legal and regulatory risks associated with the dynamic e-commerce landscape and our marketplace platform operations across Europe’s refurbished industries. This position requires an experienced legal professional with a deep understanding of e-commerce regulations, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal challenges while supporting the company's growth objectives.
WHO YOU ARE:
- 8+ years of work experience in an in-house Legal department of a company or as an attorney, with a focus on e-commerce, electronics, and corporate law.
- At least 5 years of experience in leading a legal team or a management role, preferably in a listed company or as attorney working for public companies in the e-commerce or technology sector.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce regulations, consumer protection laws, data privacy laws, and other relevant legal requirements in Europe.
- Experienced in corporate, tax and capital structuring, governance matters, M&A and other transactions.
- Excellent communication skills in English and German, both verbal and written. Additional language skills (e.g., in Italian) may be advantageous.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate legal risks and develop proactive solutions to mitigate them.
- Project and Stakeholder-Management skills to master larger corporate transformations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Expert in Austrian/ German law with a degree in law.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Ensure that we as a company are compliant with all relevant e-commerce laws, consumer protection regulations, data privacy laws, and other applicable legal requirements across Europe.
- Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives. Provide legal guidance and support for strategic initiatives and business projects.
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts with suppliers, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders. Ensure that contracts protect the company's interests and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in refurbished industry’s regulations and standards in Europe. Develop compliance programs and policies to address legal risks and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with data protection laws and ensure the security of customer data and company information.
- Manage any legal disputes or litigation. Collaborate with external legal counsel to develop effective strategies for dispute resolution.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5 legal professionals and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the legal department.
WHY YOU WILL ENJOY WORKING WITH US
Our Culture and Values:
- Decisions should be made based on facts and not by hierarchy levels? We sure think so!
- We embrace giving and receiving feedback, testing and welcoming new ideas, as well as sharing our knowledge across the company.
- You fail sometimes? Well, so do we! We’re all just human, let’s not cry about it but learn from our mistakes to improve in the future!
- No matter who you love, where you’re from, who you pray to, whether you pee sitting down or standing up – we are a bunch of talented people who enjoy spending our time making a difference!
Personal & Professional Development:
- You can take unlimited number of trainings we are offering you through LinkedIn learning.
- Additionally, we are partnering with Likeminded, offering you private sessions with experts for your personal growth and mental health.
Flexibility:
- If you're passionate about work-life balance, you're in luck! We not only function and support a fully remote setting but also offer the possibility to work from our beautiful office in the vibrant heart of Vienna – we love dogs, so feel free to bring your furry little buddy too. And yes, there is free fruit, coffee & drinks in the office 😊
- We trust you to do the best job, so we don't care so much when you do it – you are able to self-organize.
- You will also be invited to take part in our office weeks, happening three times a year, where you will have the chance to work side by side with your colleagues and enjoy the team-building events and on-site workshops
