<div><div>We’re looking for an entry-level Laboratory Technician to work alongside a team of Research Scientists and Technicians to support the development and optimisation of key plant-editing pipelines at Tropic. Job Purpose The Laboratory Technician will be working as part of Tropic’s Technology Discovery team, which is a collaborative R&D team. We apply cutting-edge technology to enhance our in-house crop pipelines, addressing real-world challenges in tropical agriculture. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a diverse set of biotechnology skills in a stimulating and supportive environment. Responsibilities Day-to-day responsibilities will involve completing routine, repetitive technical tasks with high throughput, initially focusing on plant tissue culture. This will require excellent attention to detail and record keeping, and the ability to follow established procedures closely. Over the course of your career at Tropic, you will develop and use a broad range of biotechnology skills, including: <ul><li>Plant transformation </li><li>Plasmid cloning </li><li>Bacterial culture and transformation </li><li>Genotyping </li><li>DNA sequencing and analysis </li><li>Microscopy </li></ul> Requirements We are looking for an enthusiastic entry-level Laboratory Technician with a positive and flexible attitude to support the delivery of R&D projects at Tropic. Essential <ul><li>Excited to develop your technical skillset, with genuine interest in Tropic’s research. </li><li>Educated to Bsc level within Biology (or a related subject) OR equivalent experience. </li><li>Proven track record of following established procedures and keeping accurate records (can be gained through non-laboratory experience). </li></ul><ul><li>Strong team player, who can also work independently in a dynamic environment. </li></ul>Desirable <ul><li>Full training will be provided, but a strong understanding of plant biology and basic laboratory experience will be beneficial. </li><li>Basic understanding of/experience with some of the following laboratory skills: </li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>Molecular (PCR, cloning) </li><li>Tissue culture (aseptic technique) </li><li>Microbiology (bacterial culture and transformation) </li></ul></li></ul> About Us Tropic is one of the world’s leading agricultural gene-editing companies.
