Senior Climate Scientist and Scientific Model and Data Manager (f/m/d)

Job description

• Conduct and lead research and analysis aligned with the research group focus and relevant to the general vision of Climate Analytics 
• Develop and implement cutting-edge climate modelling techniques that improve prediction accuracy. Innovate and refine data assimilation and processing methods to better understand regional climatic changes and trends
• Conduct risk assessments, applying modelling and quantitative skills to evaluate vulnerabilities and policy implications in key sectors
• Develop innovative solutions for climate data collection, analysis, and visualization, including through the utilization of AI and machine learning in improving climate modelling and predictions
• Support the delivery of training workshops and seminars for regional scientists and stakeholders on the latest climate modelling tools, and impacts
• Lead as PI for projects in their area of expertise
• Maintain a network of scientific regional stakeholders, including regional universities, research institutions, governments, NGOs, and academic institutions, to enhance climate resilience and policy implementation
• Keep up-to-date with scientific literature, and contribute to relevant scientific assessment processes
• Represent Climate Analytics at international forums, presenting research findings and contributing to global climate discourse

Your profile

Education and experience

• PhD in earth sciences, physics or a related field with a specialisation in regional climate modelling
• A minimum of 5 years of post-PhD experience in climate science, with a focus on data management, climate modelling, and policy integration
• Demonstrated expertise in handling complex climate datasets and proven ability to lead significant climate research projects
• A strong publication record in climate science and impacts
• Experience working in or with developing countries on climate change issues is required
• A strong understanding of IPCC outputs is required
