About the Role:  

The Technical Solutions Marketing Manager role reports to the Director of Solutions Marketing and will focus on positioning Planet’s products, partner offerings and services as solutions to help Planet capture current commercial markets and leverage key market trends. Focused on the technical value of these solutions, this Manager will work with sales and services to understand the use cases and design patterns being implemented successfully and work with customers and partners alike to find ways to bring the Planet product to life.

This Marketing Manager must be extremely customer facing and an avid evangelist of the product in customer use cases. Must also have extensive customer facing experience (Consultant, Sales, Sales Engineering) to create compelling market driven solutions, messaging and positioning.

This function is responsible for planning, creating and delivering compelling content, demos and solution “blueprints,” requiring technical understanding, experience, and close collaboration across marketing, product, sales, and business development to  translate solution functionality into repeatable designs.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Drive the development of demos, collateral, and best practices to enable solutions to be presented by sales and presales highlighting the value of solving real strategic business initiatives across enterprise organizations.
  • Lead and engage in technical partner and customer conversations to understand and deliver solutions for a broader market ecosystem
  • Understand technical capabilities, trends, competitor and partner offerings 
  • Document use cases Planet can commercialize based on identified opportunity
  • Support all Account Based Marketing efforts as the technical solutions “blueprint” builder and create follow-on content for both sales facing engagements and demand generation efforts.
  • Technical understanding of customer use cases focussed on repeatable patterns, and the ability to identify gaps where partners can help Planet solve customer challenges today.
  • Understand and clearly articulate technical value propositions to solve unmet business challenges.
  • Support Planet’s Commercial Sustainability Marketing efforts engaging with technical partners in the ecosystem.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 8+ of related Solutions, Consulting, Sales and Marketing experience with a track record of success  in high growth companies. 
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred.
  • Excellent storytelling skills with the ability to strategically “connect the dots” to articulate customer value in simple, yet compelling ways.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to drive outcomes.
  • Experience in enterprise software. Geospatial or Data and analytics experience a plus
  • An ability to understand complex technology and reduce to messages that resonate with the market.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills across subject areas from marketing, research, analytics, management, and profitability. 
  • Superior problem solving skills to make things happen with an ability to conceptualize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with ease.
  • Ability to work independently and retain a high level of self-motivation; A high degree of professionalism with an ability to work effectively in a group setting
