Position Summary
Responsible for linking People and Culture (P&C) strategies to functional groups and the organization, the P&C Manager reports to the Chief People and Culture Officer. This person manages projects related to talent identification, culture reinforcement, coaching/development, compensation, conflict resolution, performance management, and organizational development throughout the company. The P&C Manager is instrumental in initiating and driving P&C programs, working with business leaders to provide hands-on and strategic input, insight, and advice for each functional team. Must be comfortable speaking up and driving initiatives forward, despite any unexpected roadblocks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with mid-level managers and senior leaders to develop and implement P&C processes to support the strategic growth of the business.

  • Provide P&C expertise in the areas of feedback, performance management, employee relations, coaching, and organizational development.

  • Offer thought leadership regarding organizational and people-related strategy and execution.

  • Work with the P&C team to champion and accelerate a culture where people feel engaged, supported, valued, and inspired to provide significant business results.

  • Develop people strategies and design approaches for diagnosing and enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction.

  • Lead core P&C processes (e.g., performance calibration, compensation adjustments and, promotions)

  • Analyze various employee dashboards (e.g., compensation, job levels, and attrition) to guide decision-making and provide proactive solutions to functional teams.

  • Partner with the Chief People and Culture Officer to create value-added programs in DEIB, culture reinforcement, training, and performance management.

  • Policy review/assessment/development and implementation.

  • Lead and conduct employee onboarding and offboarding activities.

  • Own the tactical steps associated with P&C department communications to employees.

  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Research and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.

The Ideal Candidate ...

  • Possesses a BA/BS degree with 5+ years of related P&C experience as P&C generalist or manager.

  • Has a history of partner alignment to build and improve company culture and increase employee engagement.

  • Has performance management and employee relations experience.

  • Has coaching and facilitation training and skills.

  • Knows P&C programs and practices, including applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.

  • Is experienced as a strategic thought partner, managing dynamic and challenging responsibilities with a growing company in a fast-paced environment.

  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and personal integrity to build credibility with the team and other stakeholders.

  • Effectively influences outcomes to key business issues internally and externally.

  • Influences decisions to be both information-based and practical for the company.

  • Is capable of managing a variety of complex issues while driving the momentum of key projects.

  • Effectively communicates to different audiences.

About The Role
The People and Culture Manager position is located in the San Francisco Bay Area with the ability to work in Berkeley, CA. This individual will be hired as a full-time employee of Activate with a competitive salary and full benefits.
