<p class="preFade fadeIn">The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a US-based, globally-focused nonprofit that was launched in Spring of 2024. Through innovative book-and-claim systems, new and creative procurement approaches, and demand aggregating buyers’ alliances, GMA catalyzes and scales the uptake of low- and zero-carbon goods and services in the hardest-to-abate sectors. GMA’s organizational design combines shared expertise and infrastructure with sector-specific programs. By consolidating a range of value chain mitigation initiatives under a single non-profit umbrella, we will help companies ramp up their Scope 3 mitigation quickly, starting in one sector and easily moving into another.</p>

<p class="preFade fadeIn"><strong>Key Responsibilities and Qualifications</strong></p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">The Director/Senior Manager for Concrete and Cement will join a high-functioning program team, focusing on all matters related to the expansion of the work of GMA to the construction materials sector. This position will be responsible for leading efforts on scoping and navigating the best approach to establishing a demand-driven, market-based system for decarbonizing the concrete and cement industry, working with our procurement and system design teams. They will work collaboratively within the GMA cement and concrete team to scope and execute a decarbonization pathway for cement and concrete that features demand aggregation as one critical mechanism. The position will be tasked with leading and overseeing all partnership outreach in the sector, requiring deep existing relationships in the industry, including with both suppliers and corporations with cement and concrete in their value chain. In addition, when applicable, they will advise other sector teams on complementary approaches for other GMA initiatives in other hard-to-abate sectors.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">The ideal candidate has significant experience in climate leadership, preferably with experience in corporate supply chain mitigation efforts. They are an excellent communicator with the ability to effectively represent GMA and its first-of-kind work to external partners and industry stakeholders in both the private and public sectors. They are experienced in leading collaborative teams and have a positive, get-to-yes mentality.</p>

<p class="preFade fadeIn"><strong>Responsibilities will entail:</strong></p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Leading all work of the new GMA sector initiative, GMA Cement and Concrete</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Taking on a scoping program (already in progress) for best approaches to establishing a green market for cement and concrete</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Conducting outreach with key stakeholders, both public and private, to build coalitions.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Working collaboratively within the program team to develop a book and claim system for cement and concrete.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Negotiating and executing first-of-kind contracts between market players.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Serve as a representative for GMA in public settings, including conferences, industry convenings, nonprofit meetings, and other external events.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Director of Programs to expand the work of GMA to other hard-to-abate sectors.</p>

<p class="preFade fadeIn"><strong>Skills and Qualifications</strong></p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">Required:</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Strong commitment to and passion for addressing the climate crisis.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• At least 5 years of work experience in a concrete and/or cement-related field, preferably with a focus on sustainability.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Deep, existing relationships in the construction, development, government, and corporate sectors.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Energy and appetite to lead partnership outreach and drive collaboration.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Experience with and associated knowledge of innovative business and deal models.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Success in managing highly collaborative teams, including planning and follow through with staff and partners in a consistent, organized, high-quality manner.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Comfort working in small, high-functioning teams producing groundbreaking, first-of-kind work products.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">Preferred:</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• 10 years of work experience in a concrete and/or cement-related field with a focus on sustainability.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Experience in designing and negotiating contracts.</p>
<p class="preFade fadeIn">• Public speaking experience.</p>
