We are streamlining today’s time-intensive and often frustrating process with an app-based experience that delivers actionable intelligence and quotes to homeowners so they can get their projects done without in-home visits.

And by partnering with a trusted network of Trade Partners, Zero helps to facilitate installations for heat pumps, solar panels, and electrical upgrades giving homeowners a single point of contact through their project.

Born out of previous experience running a general contracting business and designing remote-sensing satellites at NASA, Zero is building the toolkit to digitally assess homes and automate the design of all-electric home energy upgrades. We are building a simple experience for homeowners to enable them to plan, purchase, and schedule installations with local, certified contractors.

Who you are

You have a background in and/or basic understanding of building systems and are eager to help improve the comfort, efficiency, and carbon footprint of homes. You have consultative sales experience dealing directly with customers. You’re an extrovert, find it easy to connect with people, and get excited by helping educate people and problem solve. You’re a strong communicator and feel confident interacting with a variety of people. You’re a fast learner, are comfortable operating in ambiguity and are a great teammate. You have a high attention to detail, are able to juggle multiple tasks at once, and hold yourself to a high standard. You’re passionate about climate change and want to be part of a team making a tangible impact in improving people’s lives and saving the planet!

What you’ll do

You’ll be the first touchpoint a customer has with Zero and will serve as a guide to homeowners to educate them about electric technologies, their capabilities and limitations. You will provide virtual consultations to homeowners helping them to collect and provide information needed to complete electrification projects. Using our proprietary software, ZERO, you will create system designs and quotes for homeowners using the information collected during consultations. You will advise homeowners on how these systems can solve their problems, and you will provide consultative sales to help customers purchase electric upgrades. You will collaborate with other Operation Team Members to update our processes, complete technical review of quotes, and stay on top of evolving standards. You will leverage your learnings to provide critical feedback that will serve to improve our product, processes, and make the overall consultation as impactful and efficient as possible.

Qualifications

Strong candidates will meet many, but not all, of the following skills and experience:

  • Deep understanding of residential buildings (i.e., Building Science, residential mechanical,  electrical, plumbing (MEP)) or a general construction background
  • 2+ years of sales experience and/or customer-facing retail sales experience
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills  
  • Tech savviness and willingness to learn new software systems 
  • Ability to explain technical information or industry jargon in an easy-to-understand way
  • Demonstrated aptitude working with productivity & CRM software such as Google Workspace or HubSpot
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player who brings a positive can-do attitude
  • High attention to detail, curiosity,  and willingness to research unique solutions for customers
  • Excellent organization, record-keeping, and time-management skills

Nice to have

  • BPI-Analyst/Professional, HVAC sales experience
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Mandarin to support customers or partners whose native language is not English.

Compensation: 

The expected compensation for this role is $100,000-$120,000 depending on experience, with a meaningful commission and equity component.
