Job Description
WHO YOU ARE
You're an empathetic leader with the skills and drive to coordinate a cross-functional team tasked with integrating Sila’s materials into next-generation batteries. Your work will include coaching and growing our battery research and development team, helping to define technical direction and facilitating collaboration with multiple internal partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Coach and support engineers and scientists through consistent feedback, navigation of challenges, and providing development opportunities to encourage technical and professional growth
- Build competency the battery integration of our anode material and work with SMEs to help build, communicate, and direct technical goals and plans
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new Silazens to expand our team’s capabilities and diversity
- Establish or improve upon systems for efficient and productive discussion of ideas, decision making and information sharing
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration within the Battery Engineering team and with internal partners at Sila (Research, Process, Product, Programs)
- Invest in our company values and vision and champion them as we grow
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Passion for coaching and guiding coworkers through transparency, empathy and dedication
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities
- Comfortable with ambiguity; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done—and then doing it
- Ability to quickly master new fields and drive improvement (i.e. materials and lithium-ion batteries)
- Strong data-driven experimental design and analysis skills
- At least a B.S. in engineering or physical science and 5 years of industry experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree)
- Several years of experience managing an R&D team in industry
