Tuesdays for Trash is a grassroots environmental movement founded in 2020 by two friends and youth activists during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a world where hope was dimmed, society fell into panic and a major crisis loomed, the two were desperate to find a way to move forward and pave a path towards a cleaner and healthier future. What first began as a way to give back to the environment has turned into a gateway into activism for the everyday individual spanning all continents and spectrums of climate justice. The mission is to not only protect our natural world but create a simple and easy way to scale action that mobilizes communities for a trash-free future on our planet--beginning at the local level.

We view the resolution of the climate emergency stemming from individual action that enables community based heroes to lead collective change. T4T is now made up of over 15 chapters, with participants on six continents and in 50+ countries. Participating in T4T allows individuals and communities to learn about the crisis in their own backyards while weaponizing their voice + actions for change--both in their everyday routines and on a systematic level. It creates a connection between people and nature in an unforgettable way that fosters growth and relationships built on attainable incentives. Over 71,000 pounds of trash has been removed from the environment by T4T since 2020 through individuals around the world weekly picking up trash in their communities, raising awareness and sharing their cleanups on their social medias (using #tuesdaysfortrash) to encourage others.
