Job Description

Location: London or Bristol (candidate choice) -though note we operate an ‘employee choice’ working environment and so the amount of time you spend in the office is flexible to suit you.

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

OVO Group’s mission is to power human progress with clean affordable energy for everyone – by driving progress towards zero carbon living.

Our energy and technology companies are working together to lower our collective carbon emissions to net zero by 2030, help our members halve theirs at the same time – and support everyone we work with on their journey to zero carbon.

We’re building a zero-carbon team, inside and out. Of those who share our values, feel inspired by our mission, and trust us to lead the way to zero. When you work for OVO Group, it’s not just a job. It’s the work of a lifetime. And we want the sharpest minds to help.

Up for the challenge?

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You’ll be part of the metering business partnering team, focussing on the smart metering business and supporting the senior business partners and their areas (smart delivery, field operations and commercial).

This role sits within the Capital Allocation Team which is part of the OVO Retail Finance function.

What will I be doing?

This role sits within the smart metering business, supporting the successful installation of smart meters for OVO customers. You'll be building relationships with the operational business and be their first point of contact helping them review inputs for business cases, attend steering committees and offering financial analysis. You'll also be an escalation point for the business to help them progress more complex queries with AP & Treasury.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our buyers with coding queries where necessary to ensure costs land where expected.
  • Having in depth involvement into the forecasting/reforecasting cycle, helping the finance business partner deliver outputs to budget holders.
  • Monthly headcount reconciliations for metering.
  • Be the metering superuser for our forecasting tool.
  • Supporting the business planning & intelligence team in building a Cost Per Install dashboard for use at manager level.
  • Being proficient in analysing the monthly CPI and collating commentary, challenging and highlighting to the budget holders regarding overspend.
  • Supporting finance colleagues in the Accounting & Reporting team to ensure they are kept up to date with any operational changes and notified of any accruals/unexpected spend.
  • Working closely with the asset management team; ensuring timely MAP invoicing and monitoring aging stock.
  • Supporting the forecasting and control of metering costs that form part of energy gross margin.

Is this the job for me?

Life at OVO is pretty fast-paced so you’ll be comfortable working in a dynamic high growth business. You're confident working in a constantly evolving environment and are comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent problem solving skills contributing to commercial decision making.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy is required, with strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and succinctly.
  • A strong academic record - degree educated would be even better.

Although not crucial, recent experience in industry being either part qualified or newly qualified (CIMA, ACCA) would be a huge plus.

From us you’ll get*

  • An annual discretionary bonus
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.
