Working to solve our climate crisis is the most important mission of our time, and the most exciting problem to be working on. Overstory’s mission is to help solve our climate crisis by providing real-time intelligence about the planet’s vegetation. In our first step toward this mission, we are applying machine learning to satellite imagery to track forests and vegetation. Today, we proudly partner with 40+ leading utilities worldwide, including 4 of the top 10 US utilities, to help reduce wildfire risk and increase grid reliability to prevent power outages.

About this role

In our fast-growing business, we are constantly reinventing ourselves and scaling our technology and teams. As a Head of Engineering you will work closely with our CTO to transform our engineering teams and practices, continuously developing future-proof technology and processes. You have a proven track record in balancing delivery with building a growth engine. You understand that putting people front and center is a key to success. . You are an entrepreneurial and empathetic leader who likes to empower individuals and teams to help them grow. Fast-paced environments are where you thrive. You enjoy connecting the dots between business and technology, and collaborating across different areas of the company. Your experiences have given you a strong ability to work through trade-offs, make decisions, prioritize, and implement the right solutions.

Requirements

  • You have demonstrated the ability to lead teams through change and growth phases with a minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership experience
  • You have worked in a product-led tech company and understand how to drive business growth through products and technology
  • You have a strong background in Agile and Lean principles
  • You have worked in fast-growing organizations
  • You have experience in leading technology organizations with a significant Data Science component
  • You are based in ET, CET, or GMT time zones

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in geospatial and/or Earth Observation technologies
  • Experience in B2B/SaaS

About our team 

We are a group of 62 people from all over the world. Fifteen nationalities are represented in our team. We work remotely from nine different countries and we are looking for candidates that are also living and working in one of these countries: United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, France, Sweden and Canada. We meet up once a year in-person for our unforgettable team gathering event. We also offer the option to occasionally meet up for in-person collaboration.
