Commercial Financial Analyst

Terraformation is hiring two (2) full-time Commercial Financial Analysts to work with our business development team, and help Terraformation along with its stakeholders and partners make the best decisions through data and a deep understanding of financial and scientific trade-offs.
Terraformation’s overall mission is to accelerate appropriate reforestation at mass scale and speed to reverse the current climate crisis trends. The Commercial Financial Analysts will play a critical role in support of our mission by:
Utilizing data analytics and modeling to enable Terraformation and our partners to restore native forests across three billion acres of land in this decade.
One role will be located in or near London (BST/UTC+1), and the other in or near Honolulu (HST/UTC-10). The successful candidates must have the ability to regularly attend calls and meet deliverable deadlines that align with their respective time zones, as well as those of Terraformation’s stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities:

• Support the commercial assessment of forest projects in cooperation with the business development team and other stakeholder groups.
• Provide financial modeling for individual project economics across different regions and biomes.
•  Drive process improvement through implementations of new processes, tools, and sharing of best practices.
• Create, update, and maintain all financial models and budgets.
• Perform market research and data mining to share with and enhance the team’s business intelligence.
• Create and review presentations summarizing project analyses for various audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics or relevant field
• 3+ years of financial analysis experience
• Proven track record of developing and or utilizing impactful analytical tools
• Exceptional analytical skills coupled with a solid understanding of business dynamics
• Strong communications skills and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and with senior management
• High proficiency in financial modeling techniques
• Experience with Google Suite tools
• Detail oriented, flexible, and reliable work ethic
• Strong personal management, planning, and collaboration skills
• Passion to solve the climate crisis

Ideal Qualifications:

• Ability to frame business issues, analyze options, and concisely articulate a course of action to scientific, business, and financial audiences
• Expertise in using programming as a tool to scale and solve problems
• Experience in valuing ecosystem services
• Forest industry experience
