AECOM is seeking a Geologist to be based in our Boston, Massachusetts Office Location (some Remote/Hybrid is acceptable). This full-time position within our Environmental Planning & Permitting Department will work with an existing team to help manage a variety of public sector and private sector projects with oversight from senior managers, scientists, engineers and technical experts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Massachusetts environmental regulations (MCP, MAWPA, etc), a strong focus on health and safety, be detail orientated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for tasks small to mid-sized environmental and infrastructure construction projects
  • Environmental Permitting Support
  • Task Management, Site Support relative to Construction
  • Working closely with Sr. PM/SME/LSP as a deputy performing scientific, financial, design and bid document development
  • Building strong client relationships
  • Client and regulatory correspondence
  • Technical report writing and review
  • Analyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertise
  • Support managing project financials to meet project goals
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders
  • Coordinating work schedules with AECOM staff and subcontractors
  • Responsible for quality control of tasks
  • Mentor project Jr. staff
  • Will require some regional travel for field visits
  • May include the supervision of junior level staff
  • Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. 
  • Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. 
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. 
  • Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources. 
  • Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance. 
  • Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
