Alantra Enagas Energy Transition and its 210M€ Klima fund overview:
The Klima Energy Transition Fund, seeded, among other investors, by Enagas, the Spanish gas grid operator, is focussing on backing experienced and agile management teams to accelerate the deployment of innovative solutions, aiming at solving the energy transition equation. The fund takes minority stakes in late stage ventures and early growth companies in the following sectors: (1) low carbon solutions (hydrogen, biogas, power to gas, …), (2) mobility (EVs but also heavy duty and maritime), (3) energy storage (batteries, alternative technologies, developers, …), (4) smart grid (sensors and data, flexibility, …) , (5) incremental technologies for renewable power generation (sensors, software, drones, offshore wind,…), (6) power markets (PPA platforms, add-ons to ETRM, green traders, market places …), with two transversal topics: digital solutions and energy efficiency. The fund of 210M€ invest mainly across Europe but also in North America, tickets of 6 to 10 M€ per company and usually is represented at board level.
The team of 7 who is managing the fund is based in Madrid, London, Paris and Bonn, all coming from the direct investment industry and 5 of them spending a number of years helping start-ups and SMEs in the energy field to grow faster.
