What you will be responsible for 
We are looking for an experienced architect to join our integrated architecture and engineering team focusing on volumetric prefabricated offsite construction and onsite assembly of single-family homes. You will be responsible for architectural documentation, permitting processes, coordinating with Aro’s procurement organization, responding to manufacturing requests and inquires, and supporting Site Operations during the assembly of Aro homes.  
 
This role focuses on developing and improving the core house products, systems and data need to keep current approvals of State Approved designs and documentation, documentation need to plant and site assembly, and data for procurement of modeled and non-modeled materials.  You will interface with engineering, manufacturing, site operations and procurement on a daily basis, responding to product focused change requests, and new material research and part specification and part number generation ensuring all change is managed through multiple systems and part numbers. This position requires visits to the company's Sacramento, CA plant. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Help develop new home products with Aro’s multi-disciplined Design team.  
  • Lead and support product optimization efforts to improve assembly efficiency and reduce cost throughout the home: This includes creative problem solving through the lens of constructability and prefabrication, an understanding our off-site construction methodologies, product and material enhancements through vendor outreach, and collaboration with all stake holders to effectively implement an improvement.
  • Manage installation location materials. This involves managing which parts and quantities are grouped (“kitted’) to be shipped to site for completing of the assembly of a home. This process involves detailed attention and review across multiple management and design platforms and includes multiple organizations such and Design, Manufacturing, Procurement and Site Operations. 
  • Track and Coordinate parity of the design and design data across multiple design platforms and systems of record. At Aro Homes, we use multiple design systems from permitting to production.  Design and data consistency are crucial for success.  As the Architectural Product Manager, you will be responsible for collaborating across teams to manage and coordinate architecture scopes.
  • As part of the above bullet, you will be responsible for tracking and updating various drawing outputs and version control of the outputs, such as State Factory Built Housing permit drawings and drawing specific to trade work at the job site.  
  • As part of Aro’s focus on continuous improvement, part of your focus will be spent on migrating scope from field installation to plant assembly.  As scopes move to the plant, you will coordinate changes within the drawings and data sets to ensure items are installed in the proper production location.  
  • You will be responsible for answering assembly questions from the plant team and following the resolutions through the appropriate systems of record and across the various product releases in concert with the Architecture Project Manager.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in architecture: entitlements, design, permitting, and construction management. 
  • Master's in architecture or equivalent. 
  • Experience with BIM systems, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360 Cloud environment and other similar tools. 
  • Experience with Bluebeam for PDF reviews and drawings set compilation.  
  • Willingness to learn new product and project delivery methods and software platforms. 
  • Willingness to jump in and provide support across the company outside of domain expertise. 
  • Onsite construction experience a plus.
