Senior Power Trader/Head of Trading

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership:
• Accountable for the Trading team across hedging and prop.
• Development and implementation of strategies for trading power and gas in the short-term markets and along the forward curve. 
• Oversight of engineering and data science teams.
• Manage the risk profile of the trading portfolio, implementing appropriate risk management measures.
• Quantitative Analysis:
• Leverage Python to deliver trading processes and data analysis.
• Ensure robust back-testing of trading strategies to validate their effectiveness.
• Team Management:
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing trading team.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in power and gas trading.
• Proven track record of success in a senior trading role at a commodity trading house, hedge fund, or utility.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a deep understanding of statistical and mathematical methods.
• Proficiency in Python is essential; familiarity with other programming languages (e.g., R, SQL) is advantageous.
• In-depth knowledge of power markets, trading instruments, and regulatory environments.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Experience managing and developing high-performance trading teams.
