As the Team Leader for our Organics department, you will play a crucial role in managing a team of highly motivated laboratory staff. You will be responsible for coordinating daily laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, coordinating, and prioritising laboratory activities and analysis based on worklists and deadlines.
  • Overseeing sample processing, testing, and analysis procedures, ensuring accuracy, and reliability.
  • Leading and training the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Overseeing multiple improvement projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Implementing and maintaining quality control procedures.
  • Ensuring the lab adheres to all health and safety regulations.
  • Conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments. 
  • Developing, and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensuring all documentation is completed appropriately and precisely.
  • Organising monthly internal calibrations of items (e.g. pipettes, balances, thermometers) and assisting with troubleshooting instruments as required.
  • Liaison with the Analytical Service Manager about results checking/repeating, and updates on deadlines and targets.
  • Monitoring and reporting Personnel Costs and Controls to the Manager.
