Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Associate Machinist with experience working in welding and machine shop environments. In this role, you will contribute to the manufacturing program through the set up and operation of machine tools such as waterjets, lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications
  • Operation of waterjet to cut both 2D and 3D parts from plate stock
  • Programming of new waterjet parts and uploading existing files to computer for jobs
  • Maintenance of waterjet
  • Organization of work area to maintain a safe and clean workspace
  • Forklift operation for loading/unloading of material on machines
  • Assist Machinists in tool set-up of machining centers
  • Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures
  • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications
  • Operates various grinders
  • Operates various hand tools
  • Operates various machining centers
  • Use of various measurement instruments to ensure quality or work pieces
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to access online software such as Tableau/Jobboss
  • Ability to create DXF files from Solidworks models or drawings
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, decimals, and shop math to practical situations
  • Able to learn mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, decimals, and shop math to practical situations
  • Ability to learn Flowcut software
  • Ability to learn MasterCam software
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
  • Familiar with applicable measuring tools to check stock size and part quality

The hourly range for this position is $31-$34 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
