We are currently seeking an experienced Battery Cell Design Engineer to design cylindrical cells that meet system-level requirements.

This position requires a deep understanding of cell design features, evaluation technique, and electrochemical principles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lithium-ion battery chemistry, cell design, production, and characterization, from material to cell level. This role demands the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with striving for excellence.

The Role:

· Lead new cell designs from concept to mass production

· Collaborate cross-functionally to brainstorm and co-develop new cell concepts and specifications

· Perform materials characterization, analysis, and selection; work with modeling engineers to create technical roadmaps and plans

· Communicate with process engineers for troubleshooting in cell prototyping process.

· Contribute to the development of test methods and plans to evaluate cell performance in real world EV usage scenarios

· Design and conduct experiments with vendors to optimize cell performance

· Host discussions with suppliers regarding novel cell design and manufacturing.

· Work with intellectual property team to patent your inventions

Qualifications:

· 5+ years of experience in cell development engineering

· Strong documentation and communication skills are a must

· In-depth understanding of how design choices affect cell performance

· Knowledge of battery operating characteristics at cell and system level

· Ability to design test plans to evaluate battery performance and safety

· Experience running cell tests and working with commercial lithium-ion cells

Preferred:

· > 5yr experience in cylindrical cell development engineering

· Working experience in Tier 1 cell suppliers

· Experience with cylindrical commercial cell form factors

 

Education:

· PhD, or Masters with 3+ years of relevant work experience, or

· Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant work experience

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$161,900$237,380 USD
