What you will be responsible for
We are looking for an experienced CAD Modeler for our home building process who will drive a disciplined and focused approach to maintaining a detailed, comprehensive, accurate and up to date three-dimensional fabrication model of our groundbreaking home design. This role will work closely with our architecture and engineering teams to ensure our fabrication model aligns with associated permit documents on all our projects. You will also be responsible for interfacing with our manufacturing and site assembly teams to continuously improve the documentation produced by the model to facilitate their work and success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrity and usability of our 3D fabrication model – in Onshape.
- Specify and/or develop improvements to our modeling software and approach/process.
- Track and manage product redlines and design feedback from the manufacturing and site assembly teams including research efforts.
- Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the product and assembly process to help wherever needed.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with Field, Manufacturing, and Design teams.
- Manage our digital component library and the associated specification documentation to guide our procurement team.
- Manage documentation standards and quality of the model output to end users.
- Serve as a sounding board and evaluator of design strategies and concepts.
- Maintain alignment and version control of fabrication model to permit sets and documentation.
- Manage model releases and versions of production documents.
- Manage bill of materials outputs.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Deep Experience with CAD systems; Onshape, Solidworks, and Catia or similar.
- Experience with BIM systems and Revit is a plus.
- Experience in residential or commercial construction and reading construction plan sets.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably modular construction, is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a related or qualified field/position.
- Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite in Sacramento, CA plant.
