We are looking for a Carbon and Agriculture Researcher to join our research team. The right person will play a key role sourcing and validating data ingested into HowGood’s database and SaaS platform. This candidate will manage HowGood’s carbon and agricultural impact data. This person will collaborate with the research, product, and customer experience teams in updating and sourcing key data points and context related to the carbon cycle and agricultural impacts along the supply web. Clear communication skills and comfort participating in a fast moving, business goal driven environment are musts. Applicants should have deep expertise in agriculture, sustainability, the carbon cycle, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and a keen interest in regenerative agriculture. HowGood’s data complexity is derived from the diversity of sources and the flexibility required to integrate each data source into HowGood’s best in class decision support software. Environmental and social impact data from established international NGO’s is processed alongside pesticide usage report pdf’s at the county level, and the right candidate will be excited by the challenge and ready to creatively problem solve for effectively selecting and sourcing impact information.

Looking for candidates who have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or a PhD with research focused on the carbon cycle in agriculture
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
  • Technical writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills

Required Skills:

  • Strong research skills in agriculture and carbon (minimum of masters level, PhD preferred)
  • Experience researching and making sense of multiple agricultural data types such as water usage, biodiversity, land usage, soil health, etc.
  • Experience using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, including scope 3 emissions
  • Understanding of life cycle assessment (LCA)
  • Understanding of data analysis using agricultural and carbon data
  • Experience with Mac OS + & Google suite
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Geospatial Information Systems, including but not limited to:
  • Manipulation and analysis of aerial imagery and satellite data
  • Ability to employ a variety of spatial analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with remote sensing technologies
  • Development of proprietary geoprocesses
