Job Description

Position Description: EcoCosm is currently looking for a driven Assistant Energy Engineer. The successful candidate will:

As part of our team, you will be exposed to the full range of energy upgrade projects. Projects range from $50,000 to $1 million and the successful candidate will play a key role in multiple projects from start to finish. 

Projects include energy metering, lighting, HVAC, controls, and building envelope upgrades.

This position will include nationwide travel up to 25% of the time as project needs require. You will be our boots on the ground to help coordinate energy projects onsite. 

 

Responsibilities

Your top priorities are assisting the Project Manager in delivering projects:

  • On time
  • On budget
  • To a happy Client

Specific duties include:

Estimating and Project Development

  • Visit commercial buildings and document existing conditions
  • Determine best energy upgrades given client goals
  • Prepare documents for bid
  • Evaluate and recommend energy upgrade technologies
  • Conduct bid analysis for subcontracted scopes
  • Prepare proposals including detailed costs estimates, scope of work, and value proposition

Project Management assistance

  • Plan and schedule work
  • Generate contracts
  • Track and report progress onsite
  • Recognize, document, and communicate all scope and cost changes
  • Work with subcontractors to implement the energy upgrades
  • Work with in-house engineering team to adapt to field conditions and ensure energy saving targets are met or exceeded. 
  • Ensure the financial health of the project
  • Clearly and effectively communicate with the team and client
  • Manage the completion of the project

 

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree from an accredited institution, preferably in engineering or a related field
  • Prior work experience is a plus but not required. Specific experience with electric and gas metering, NetZero, or retro-commissioning projects is a plus.
  • A drive to eradicate energy waste in buildings and plants
  • Well-honed attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and can manage multiple projects and prioritize time and resources accordingly
  • Ability to work with our team, sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong ability to communicate to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders verbally and in writing
  • Provide superior, friendly service
  • Clean DMV record
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Available for nationwide travel

Bonus qualifications:

  • Engineering background
  • Experience with electric and gas metering, NetZero, or retro-commissioning projects
  • Control programming
  • Networking knowledge
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance procedures, and standards
