About This Role

The Analytical Sciences team is responsible for developing methods to ensure quality of our products and measure performance at a molecular level. We are seeking a creative and resourceful Senior Scientist who will work collaboratively with other members of the various Research & Development teams to isolate, characterize, and identify compounds of interest from plant and microbial biomass. This opportunity is part-time and available for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Chemistry. It is based at our Headquarters in Santa Barbara, CA and we are looking for you to join us immediately. 

What You’ll Do

• Perform flavor and nutritional studies on fruit using various analytical methods such as gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
• Extract key nutrients from produce over the course of its shelf life and use analytical separation and identification methods to selectively detect key nutrients
• Analyze data and develop reports of results
• Expand these techniques to other produce categories

What You Bring 

• Current student, pursuing a Chemistry degree 
• Previous laboratory experience with liquid and/or gas chromatography, and various detection methods
• Ability to learn and use various types of instrument software such as ChemStation and MassHunter
• An ability to work in a collaborative environment across several functions within the company
