About This Role

The Biological Sciences team is responsible for developing a fundamental understanding of produce physiology such that we can measure, monitor, and predict produce quality throughout the supply chain. We are seeking a creative and resourceful Assistant Scientist who will work collaboratively with other members of the various Research & Development teams, particularly Analytical Sciences, to assist with data collection for the upcoming citrus season.

This opportunity is part-time and available for undergraduate students pursuing a degree. It is based at our Headquarters in Santa Barbara, CA and we are looking for you to join us immediately. 

What You’ll Do

  • Collect and analyze various data related to produce quality
  • Effectively communicate (written and oral) complex information to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from the Biological Sciences team to the company as a whole
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous research experience

What You Bring 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field of study
  • At minimum 1+ year of research outside of the classroom
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work within teams, especially as part of multidisciplinary collaborations
  • Excellent organization skills, including the ability to keep accurate records, detailed documentation, and manage relatively large data sets
  • Eagerness to learn new scientific skills and methods
  • Enthusiasm for experimental research and a curiosity for biological systems and pathways
