Responsibilities:



  • Raise raw material purchase orders according to the requirements of the ERP.

  • Send out RFQ to Supplier Base and if necessary negotiate price and delivery.

  • In conjunction with other team members identify improvement activities within purchasing / material functions to improve efficiency with department paying particular attention to stock reduction, supplier lead reductions and stock availability.

  • Share in departmental objectives and initiatives.

  • To provide input to production meetings to ensure material availability in support of production requirements.

  • Execute the sourcing process and manage ERP transactions.

  • Use the ERP system in an optimal way to maximise internal transactional efficiency and minimise total costs, adopting ‘best practice’ and contributing to their improvement.

  • Participate in business reviews with the suppliers / customers ensuring that both suppliers and internal requirements are being met.

  • Support material quotations when necessary and other duties within the department.

  • Address day-to-day challenges as they arise.

  • Work additional hours if required within the business.



Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing procurement role.

  • Good IT skills required including knowledge of Excel and ERP systems required.

  • Demonstrate effectiveness in teamwork and communications in a manufacturing organisation with procurement, suppliers, manufacturing assembly operations and engineering.

  • Able to make effective decisions and to work within tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of various manufacturing and assembly processes with experience in engineering and advantage.

  • Good problem solving skills.

  • Good people skills.

  • Must be customer focused and have a sound appreciation of internal and external customers.

  • Must be proactive, methodical and systematic in approach.

  • Results driven - must be able to set, monitor and appropriately manage the achievement of own targets.

  • Approachable and supportive, able to build and maintain collaborative productive relationships.

  • Ideally a member of CIPS.

  • Educated to GCSE standard including Maths and English A - C.

  • A knowledge of the Company’s products & markets would be a distinct advantage.
