The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and commercial quotations for Control Systems to internal and external Sales groups for both standard and custom controls products. This will include understanding customer’s specific applications and applying the correct product as well as determining the budget cost and estimated delivery. The Application Engineer will interact with the following departments within GEA: Project Execution, Procurement, Product Development and Production as well as the various external Sales organizations.

Responsibilities / Tasks

·         Evaluate customer’s technical and commercial requirements and, in conjunction with the internal and external Sales organizations, work to arrive at the most cost-effective technical solution.

·         Working knowledge of Industrial Machine Controls and the ability to understand control diagrams/schematics.

·         Capable of effectively handling multiple quotations and order processing simultaneously.

·         Ability to work both individually and within a team setting, both in-person and virtually.

·         Ability to understand original project documentation to determine best possible solution.

·         Ability to convey complex controls concepts into understandable layman’s terms.

·         Generate technical and commercial proposals and supporting documentation.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Profile / Qualifications

·         Minimum Education:  B.S. in Engineering or related field

·         Minimum Experience:  1-3 years’ experience in application and/or development of products for industrial refrigeration.  Six years total experience in applied engineering.  Equivalent of preceding may be an M.S. in an engineering discipline.   

·         Minimum Skills:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technical, analytical and organizational skills, ability to problem solve and resolve issues, detail oriented, strong inter-personal skills

·         Optional/Preferable Skills:  Understanding Boolean logic, Familiarity with UL 508A and NEC, Knowledge of basic Refrigeration concepts, Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC controllers and software, Knowledge of Ethernet/RS-485 communications, Familiarity with electrical panel manufacturing practices
