About the Role:
Planet is constantly working on next generation systems and space platforms and we are seeking a manager with avionics/power/PCB design focus to lead Planet’s next generation electrical and embedded platform development. As an experienced electrical engineer on a world-class electrical engineering team, you will take responsibility for building out the avionics and power systems roadmap, support the multiple satellite platforms that Planet operates, and provide mentoring and career development for an incredible team of engineers. As a proven leader you will use your experience to establish best practices and motivate high-quality engineering, and you are equally comfortable leading a team as you are making technical contributions to projects.
Your team will be composed of digital, analog, and power system engineers.You will work alongside Flight SW, Payload EE, RF/Comms, ME/Thermal, and GNC teams to build and launch Planet’s next generation Earth Observation satellites. You will also support the MFG and Mission Operations teams with the existing line of Dove and Skysat spacecraft. You will qualify and improve performance, reliability, and lifetime by working with the reliability and qualification teams. You will work closely with systems engineering, missions, and manufacturing teams to ensure mission success. Simply put, you will build the space systems of tomorrow.
