FormWare is a suite of software tools that identify energy grid needs, moving us forward into a clean energy future, communicating the role Form plays with our low-cost multi-day energy storage.FormWare allows modeling of energy power grids for planning, analysis and analytics of energy generation and transmission capacity investments to meet future market needs to keep up with the industry evolution driving towards a clean energy future.This role works with the broader software team, engineering, and scientists to improve and optimize computational models and features of our core software operations, exploring alternative approaches to decision-making and identifying a range of suitable outcomes to maximize capacity and performance.

What You'll Do:

  • Enhance the core optimization engine of FormWare contributing to real time operations simulator, higher fidelity plant models, efficiency improvements, and other features you help identify!
  • Workload will include a balance of executing scoped tasks and exploratory prototyping of state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Adopt software engineering best practices for smooth integration of components into the larger FormWare platform.
  • Gather and prioritize requirements from Scientists, Business Development and Analytics groups.
  • Collaborate closely with both software engineers and analysts when working on new capabilities.

What You'll Bring:

  • MS (PhD preferred) in a field exposed to mathematical modeling and optimization (engineering, science, mathematics...)
  • Preferably experience with renewable energy modeling or energy market modeling. At a minimum, excitement for these modeling areas.
  • Experience, knowledge, or desire to learn mathematical programming techniques and balance model fidelity with computational feasibility.
  • Experience in Python Programming, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving that blends good judgment, clear communication, dependable follow-through, creative use of resources, and joy in the process.
