POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager of Planning, Performance and Analytics will leverage their deep knowledge of data, and analytical mindset to inform the sales & MX strategy, drive KPI successes, recognize risk while it is still actionable and partner with the sales & MX teams in their data and reporting needs . They will improve structure and accountability around sales targets and goals; measuring and tracking sales initiatives and ultimately delivery against our sales plan. Finally, they will utilize the data to provide insights and indicated actions to properly drive the most value and prevent risks for the sales and MX organization.

This person should be passionate about data-driven decisions, strategy and storytelling. Additionally, they should work well with cross-functional teams and have the ability to communicate complex topics to a wide variety of audiences.

THE SENIOR MANAGER, PLANNING & PERFORMANCE ANALYTICS HAS 5 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quarterly and annual planning: Assist with budgeting, forecasting and creation of KPIs. Represent Sales in partnership with Finance, Analytics and other key functions who consume and depend on strong inputs from our sales plan.
  • Data Driven Support: Support the sales & MX teams in the creation/ management of KPI dashboards, data sourcing requests and weekly performance analysis. Provide content for recurring and ad-hoc presentations to communicate strategy and progress against KPIs.
  • Market Research: Research and synthesize market and performance data to identify and evaluate business expansion or optimization opportunities in collaboration with sales & MX leadership.
  • Performance Improvement: Identify improvements and strategic shifts across the Sales and MX department. Leverage analysis to prioritize sales initiatives and tests to constantly learn and improve results across our channels. Surface data-driven insights for their strategic value.
  • Executive Communications and Support: Provide content for regular communication to sales & MX leadership identifying key drivers, trends and related analysis. Manage required reporting, analytics and business intelligence. Recurring and ad hoc presentations to communicate insights and actions.

SOME YEAR 1 DELIVERABLES

  • Evaluate and upgrade how we drive performance with each of our sales channels and partners; including managing an overhaul of our data dashboards.
  • Monthly report outlining target markets/ vertices; new or additional value creation; areas of risk and expected value/ revenue creation
  • Partner with Finance and Analytics to ensure a single source of truth for metrics and data
  • Partner with FP&A to improve the Sales & MX forecasting process
  • Work with the executive and communications team to determine content and create a regular cadence for KPI and performance reviews, insights and indicated actions

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Sales Management team 100% weekly knowledge of core KPIs, including insights and indicated actions.
  • Forecast timeliness and accuracy increased
  • Improved sales efficiency by channel @ ~6-9 month mark (improvements in ORD, headcount, CPA, LTV and/or retention).
  • Complete operating rhythm for forecasting and regular executive communications

Expert Communicator - Can create alignment, action, and clarity in complex situations

EXPERIENCE

  • Must Have
    • 5-8 years experience in an analyst, business intelligence, FP&A or related role
    • Experience creating and delivering content for business leaders
    • Proven track record of identifying gaps through data and successfully improving key business metrics
    • Experience making data driven decisions within organizations with a medium-sized (~1M) P&L
    • Proven ability to use data to drive success for the business
    • Excellent communicator with a knack for explaining complicated / technical items in a simplistic way
    • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, with all levels of the organization, to develop analysis plans that address pressing business questions/concerns
  • Nice to Have
    • Bachelor's degree or MBA in business, finance, accounting or a related field
    • Retail energy experience
    • Sales or customer service experience
    • Participation in project management certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma or related
    • Experience with early stage and large corporate companies
    • Demonstrated track record of service work / involvement in the community
    • Demonstrated leadership experience directly leading a team and/or through mentorship/coaching of others
