Product Manager

The Role

SHYFT Power Solutions is seeking a highly empathetic and collaborative Product Manager who is passionate about building products that enable positive outcomes for our customers. At SHYFT, you’ll be a touchpoint across our entire product ecosystem - working on new features, the technology that enables their functionality, user experience design, how we monetize this functionality, how we acquire and retain users and customers, and the offline experiences that are essential to delivering the product’s value.

The ideal SHYFT product manager embodies several traits; the technology sophistication, business savvy, credibility with key stakeholders, deep customer knowledge, passion for the product, and the respect of the team. You need to be a detailed thinker with extreme attention-to-detail, a strong presenter, a great problem-solver, and a hard worker. You will work closely with leadership and other members of the team to help shape the future of our business. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. 

What you’ll do

• You’ll collaborate with multiple teams - operations, engineering, legal, and customer support, to name a few -  in order to define, manage and execute our product roadmap
• You’ll build cross-functional consensus on product strategy, design, and technical decisions
• You’ll work with the management team to understand SHYFT’s vision and use that to drive our product strategy
• You’ll help us increase our velocity by unblocking product processes and ensuring excellent communication within both product <-> engineering and the company as a whole
• You’ll interface with sales teams, technical specialists, external partners and customers to understand all stakeholder needs and develop new product ideas that will move the needle for our customers
• You’ll develop familiarity with and intuition about our landscape, from competitors to new technologies which may be of use in the pursuit of our mission
• You’ll frequently interact with and deeply understand our customers - their pain points, needs & requests - and determine what’s most valuable for them and for us.
• You’ll enhance our existing solutions by using data to track, improve performance and drive adoption

Who are you?

• You have a BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
• You have prior product management experience building a consumer-facing tech product
• You can think big while still appreciating the impact of small decisions. At SHYFT, you’ll often switch from deeply detailed technical conversations on the minutiae of a product decision to high-level discussions with customers and business partners about our solutions
• You’re highly analytical, a great listener, empathetic, and have great verbal and written communication skills.
• You’re a natural at breaking down complex systems and skilled at communicating same in a simplified manner to a wide audience of stakeholders
• You’re results-oriented. You can cut to the core of a problem, identify what needs to be done and when, and work with the teams to get solutions shipped.
• You thrive in ambiguity and can extract valuable insights even with imperfect information
• Experience with our technical stack is plus (Node.js, NestJS, Ruby on Rails, Python, RabbitMQ, Redis, SQL, InfluxDB, Node-RED, Typescript, Javascript, React, React Native, Angular (2+))
