Job Description

OVERVIEW
The Supply Chain team is responsible for industrializing the next-generation and innovative smart hardware and software designed by NIO engineering teams around the globe. Components as small as electrical passive materials to an entire vehicle level architecture, our teams strive to establish and maintain sustainable supply chain partnerships and networks most suitable for our company and end-users. Our mission is to further increase the values of our products and services by offering superior quality and delivery without compromising on cost.

Responsibilities

  • This candidate will lead, source, negotiate, and maintain Electronics/Electrical commodities of in-house designed, smart hardware of next-generation electric vehicles.
  • Be a key contact for various supplier collaboration activities from early product development to mass production ramp-up for the assigned commodities or purchase categories.
  • Lead and support cross-functional teams of smart hardware engineering, quality assurance engineering, project management, finance, and others to meet or exceed the programs’ or projects’ scopes and objectives.
  • Design, conduct and synthesize supplier, industry, and market research for assigned commodities to develop the sourcing strategy.
  • Drive cost transparency and build Total Cost of Ownership models to support sourcing decisions.
  • Identify creative ways and end to end solutions to achieve cost savings according to a benchmark study, VA/VE, competitive bidding, bundling, resourcing, etc.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships by effectively communicating, track suppliers’ KPI for improvements, and resolve commercial issues.
  • Issue RFx for assigned commodities. Review, analyze, and clarify quotations/proposals from suppliers.
  • Map the supply chain for the assigned electrical and mechanical commodity and other given projects. Lead the process of data collection and build cross-functional supplier assessment metrics to support sourcing decisions.
  • Provide a sound recommendation based on the sourcing process and finalize/release contract/PO.
  • Lead and mitigate risks pertaining to supply continuity and supply base constraints.

Qualifications

  • At least five (7) years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or large size R&D environment, who has the in-depth knowledge of commodity management including a very early phase of design and development to mass production.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of EE (Electronics and Electrical) and PCBA component supply bases.
  • Strategic sourcing, NPI, cost analyses, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Good track record and demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvements.
  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and solve problem.
  • Strong planner, proactive, and has the ability to anticipate the potential outcomes in various business situations to mitigate the risks and issues.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to handle sudden setbacks under pressure.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a dynamic/fast pace environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage and track transactional details.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% when required.
  • Proficient in MS Excel / PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive and/or start-up experience
  • Broad range of EE (Electronics and Electrical) purchasing experience
  • Working experience with SoC, MCU, and Memory/Storage suppliers
  • Master’s Degree in Supply Chain / Finance or MBA
  • Supply Chain Certifications from APICS/ASCM, ISM, or CSCMP
  • PMI PMP Certification is a plus
