Your Impact at Ascend Analytics
We are seeking an experienced Visulaization Engineer to join our PowerSIMM team in Boulder, Colorado (remote work from other locations is also possible). You will be responsible for design, creation, and integration with the data underlying Ascend's PowerSIMM Platform. You will create PowerBI visualizations for both scalable integration of standard BI reports across clients as well as ad hoc BI reporting to meet specific client project needs.
As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining seamless and scalable Power BI reports, bringing actionable insights and knowledge to our clients and our internal analyst team. Further, this role will be instrumental in extending the UX momentum obtained through recent PowerSIMM UI upgrades to our output visualizations.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate design savvy in all work product
- Build engaging PowerSIMM integrated dashboards
- Design meaningful visualizations to accentuate analytical model output
- Advance standardization of Power BI reporting across client deployments
- Create automated and efficient data visualization processes
- Deploy the latest Power BI feature advances from Microsoft
- Collaborate with management and technical SMEs to arrive at the most scalable and cost -effective solutions
- Support other team members through the development and deployment of Power BI value adds for their client or project work
- Engage co-workers and clients in a professional fashion to deliver on their data visualization needs effectively
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in a similar position
- Strong knowledge of PowerBI or equivalent visualization software
- Experience working with data gateways and deployment pipelines
- Experience working with direct queries
- Working knowledge of PowerBI embedded and PowerBI plugins
- Working knowledge of DAX and M
- Keen eye for design and visualization with aesthetic appeal and quality UX
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work with Oracle or similar relational database as a data source
- Experience visualizing data stored in OLAP cube data structures and/or data warehouses
- Azure experience, including OneLake, Fabric, and Synapse
- Masters degree in a technical field
Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000
Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
