Job DescriptionAir Vehicle Operator (AVO) candidates must be able to safely manage and conduct the operation of developmental group 5 unmanned aerial system (UAS) platforms. This position is highly flexible and requires a high degree of competency. Candidates must be able to operate in both environment that do not have fully developed documentation and training courses, and also in deployment environments with established documentation. The ability to create, review, edit and publish crew training documentation, checklist, operations manuals, and a variety of other contract required documents is highly desired. Basic computer skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and management. CONUS development flight test and some OCONUS operations are to be expected. Required Skills and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Must have FAA Commercial Pilot License (or equivalent experience/rating), Instrument Rating (or equivalent experience/rating), with glider experience a plus.</li><li>Maintain FAA Class II Medical Certificate</li><li>Must demonstrate extensive understanding of UAS and FAA principles, theories and concepts.</li><li>Must have good analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to efficiently collaborate with aircrew, management, civilian and government customers, and contractors. </li><li>Must be able to work both independently and lead in a team environment. </li><li>Must have a team-first attitude and drive for system success. </li><li>Security Clearance Level Required: Should be able to obtain DoD security clearance.</li></ul> Preferred Skills/Qualifications:<ul><li>500+ hours of Group 3/4+ UAS experience while acting as the Air Vehicle Operator in Command</li><li>Prior experience instructing AVO candidates in ground and flight operations.</li><li>Experience in support of military UAS operations</li><li>Associate degree in mechanical or electrical field or other relevant engineering fields</li><li>A strong work ethic and an internal sense of responsibility are highly desired</li><li>Have secondary skills and attitude to support non-flight activities between flight campaigns (e.g. system documentation writing, engineering design support)</li></ul> Travel RequiredInitially will be 100% at Stennis, MS location for first 9 months. In the future up to 25% travel overseas typically three months at a time. CONUS travel is also expected.
