We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Group Lead to join our team in Rotterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the execution of all preventive and corrective Mechanical maintenance activities for our IG plants in Botlek. 
The plants which are supported by the team include our assets in Botlek, Hyco4, Chemiehaven and Pernis. As the leader of a team of 10 technicians, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. You will also work closely with outside service providers to ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manages the mechanical technician’s team within the Rotterdam Maintenance Organization. This includes assigning tasks, conducting performance reviews, and coordinating individual training and development plans.

  • Pursues a culture of Safety and Quality that pervades all aspects of work.

  • Acts as the central point of contact for all work requests for the Mechanical team.

  • Takes an active role in prioritizing and scheduling of activities with other stakeholders of the Operations, Maintenance and Projects team based on business needs, available resources, required preparation time etc.

  • Drives to 100% compliance when it comes to preventive maintenance tasks.

  • Actively participates in developing and improving work processes, both within the Maintenance organization as well as those affecting the Operations/Maintenance interaction.

  • Helps the team to become (even) more effective by acting as the central point of contact for Mechanical questions, optimizing work methods (e.g. documentation), improving systems, and assuring clear communication within the team about what is expected to meet the agreed schedule.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Has a high set of personal safety standards, leads by example.

  • Minimum education level at MBO4+  in a relevant technical discipline and can demonstrate ability to function at HBO level.

  • Proven coaching/leadership skills.

  • A good basic technical skill set, preferably for both Mechanical and Machinery, which enables the job holder to discuss technical matters, help prioritize the work or give direction on how to resolve issues.

  • The ability to maintain a helicopter view and simultaneously coordinate many different topics, varying in complexity, duration and importance.

  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with various stakeholders including other parts of the Maintenance organization, Operations, engineering groups, various managers, service providers, suppliers….

  • A good understanding of cost control and the need for the team to operate in a cost-effective manner.

  • A 'hands-on' attitude and willingness to provide support on the plant as needed.

  • Flexibility - the nature of continuously operating plants means that out of hours support will be required on occasion.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

  • Experienced with  the Microsoft Office package (incl. Excel), SAP and Primavera.
