Join the Powertrain Team based in Bristol as an EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System) Engineer and help us achieve our pioneering electric aviation mission. What will success look like for you, as an EWIS Design Engineer?As an EWIS Design Engineer, you will be a key part of the team delivering the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), responsible for the design and integration of the aircraft wiring systems across the aircraft. This includes conventional low-voltage systems and novel high-voltage systems to enable our all-electric powertrain. You will work closely with our Motor, Battery, and Power Distribution teams to deliver an integrated Powertrain system for our VX4 aircraft.  You will also work in conjunction with all aircraft systems and structural teams from initial concepts through to interface management, detailed design, harness manufacture, and installation; through to aircraft commissioning and flight testing.  What we would like you to bring.We want you to be successful in your role, to achieve this, you will need:
  • Proven experience designing and integrating electrical wiring systems
  • Support of Systems Engineering activities (including requirements management and safety assessment processes)
  • Experience producing 2D wiring diagrams and 3D harness models from concept to installation definition. 
  • Experience using Electrical 2D & 3D CAD packages, with Catia V5/V6 or 3D Experience highly desirable. 
VA offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with most employees spending two days a week at our Central Bristol office or the Vertical Energy Centre in Avonmouth, and the remainder of their time working from home.
