Job Description

The Community Impact Associate will help create the proper foundation for The Ceres Market brand to grow, thrive, and make change happen in the Ceres Market community. The CDA will work closely with the Founder to ideate new ways to build meaningful partnerships, create opportunities for micro-retailing, build a community around our cause, and support the sales cycle. You will cross-collaborate with the Marketing Associate to fundraise, create content for fostering new client relationships, and building partnerships with key organizations. We are looking for a curious and creative thinker, driver, and organizer who is seeking to engage in a lasting mentorship experience. The ideal candidate will possess both familiarity with the environment and a passion for minimal waste living, as well as an interest in entrepreneurship.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program Operations: building and maintaining partner relationships, facilitating improvement processes, and supporting the community network of partners in identifying sustainable gaps in their business.
  • Network Communications: curating and sharing eco-friendly tips and lessons across sites through the preparation of briefs, e-newsletters, presentations, and reports alongside the Marketing Associate. 
  • Coordination: planning for meetings, webinars, and conferences that facilitate the mission’s ability to energize and mobilize people around a change agenda, and help educate about the circular economy. 
  • Provide individual community members with the inspiration, tools, and resources they need to participate in the shift into circular living where they live, work and learn.
  • Develop and manage relationships with partners, including the global members of #BreakFreeFromPlastic and the changemakers in the global community.
  • Business development: Prospecting for potential clients and partners through tools and outreach. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Professional with 2+ years of experience in community engagement, program management, fundraising, sales, or business development.
  • Ability to write at a high level, creating error-free, emotionally engaging content within a relatively short period of time.
  • Knowledge of the environmental and social impacts of plastic production and consumption, including solutions to plastic pollution highly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including customers, investors, donors, and/or environmental organizations highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Google Suite, Asana, Canva, Wix, and Salesforce strongly preferred; Spanish speaking and writing capabilities are a plus.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as well as adapt and react as projects evolve. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and competency around diversity, equity, and inclusion is required, including a desire to tell the stories and organize campaigns with individuals and communities most impacted by environmental and economic injustice. 
  • Desire and ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment. 
  • Must have a can-do attitude, patience, sense of humor, and positive outlook on the future state of the planet. 

 

Work Expectations:  

3-6 hours a week. The schedule is flexible and work is remote. This is a part-time volunteer position with an integral role in the life of the organization and contact with customers, donors, as well as outside contractors and vendors.
