Job Description

The Grant Writer will help create the proper foundation for The Ceres Market brand to grow, thrive, and make change happen. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Founder to tell the Ceres Market story and mission in order to receive funding. Essentially, you will dedicate yourself to storytelling and pitching the circular living idea in grants and marketing content. We are looking for an excellent writer with the ability to translate ideas into cogent and compelling prose. The ideal candidate will possess familiarity with the environment and a passion for minimal waste living.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates, researches, writes, reviews, and edits grant proposals for funding streams such as grants, donations, and incubators. 
  • Supports research for alternative funding such as incubators and accelerators.
  • Gives feedback on the written, graphic, and video content, including email and web to the marketing team.
  • Assists in copywriting and templatizing sales emails, website content, and marketing collateral. 
  • Uses timelines to prioritize tasks for application of grants. 
  • Completes grant applications alongside the founder. 

Qualifications: 

  • Professional with 2+ years of experience in grant writing, journalism, marketing, or communications. 
  • Knowledge of the environmental and social impacts of plastic production and consumption, including solutions to plastic pollution highly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including customers, investors, donors, and/or environmental organizations highly preferred.
  • Ability to write at a high level, creating error-free, emotionally engaging content within a relatively short period of time.
  • Familiarity with engagement tools like Google Suite, Grammarly, A/B testing is strongly preferred; previous experience is a plus.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as well as adapt and react as projects evolve. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and competency around diversity, equity, and inclusion is required, including a desire to tell the stories and organize campaigns with individuals and communities most impacted by environmental and economic injustice. 
  • Desire and ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment. 
  • Must have a can-do attitude, patience, sense of humor, and positive outlook on the future state of the planet. 

 

Work Expectations:  

3-6 hours/week for 6 months. The schedule is flexible and work is remote. This is a part-time volunteer position with an integral role in the life of the organization and contact with customers, donors, as well as outside contractors and vendors.
