We are looking to hire an experienced HR Business Partner to join us on a permanent basis.

We currently have a team of 4 HR professionals within the Africa HR team serving a client base of some 150 employees, made up of Consulting and Support staff spread across our African offices, the majority of which sit in South Africa.

This is a great role for an established HR Business Partner with a keen interest in developing their skills and knowledge in a personable management consulting environment. The ideal individual will have a collaborative and positive approach. This role will require occasional travel to other ERM offices across the Africa.

Responsible for a range of responsibilities to include:

Working within a professional and collaborative team, accountabilities include:

  • Partner, support, and influence stakeholders at various levels of the business

  • Regularly meet with Leaders to discuss team and individual performance and use insights, both in terms of knowledge and metrics, to offer solutions and make recommendations for change

  • Coach line managers to have effective conversations, work with TLs to create/maintain a high-performance culture

  • Collaborate across the Shared Service and COE teams to implement people and business initiatives across, Leadership, L&D, Performance Management, Change Management, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Reward.

  • Provide relevant HRMI for the Business, HRM and HRD, conducting analysis and offering insights to suggest improvements.

  • Guide leaders through the HR annual cycle e.g. Talent review, Salary and Bonus Reviews etc.

  • Workforce planning and resourcing: understand the recruitment pipeline, aligning resourcing needs with BU needs, taking into account succession and talent pipelines, capability building, redundancy planning etc.)

  • Support HR BPs and line managers to advise on the full spectrum of ER issues, particularly discipline, grievance, capability / performance management and sickness, escalating complex, risky or sensitive cases to appropriate colleagues

  • Review and update HR policies and documentation and communicating and consulting with key stakeholders to implement any required changes

  • Advise on mobility moves

  • Conduct exit interviews, reporting insights and data to HRBPs/HRD

  • Assist with any queries escalated from the HR inbox

  • Capturing and tracking key data and information to ensure we provide accurate MI reporting to enable us to identify root causes and trends e.g. exit interview data, sick ness data etc.

  • Dealing with policy queries and applying Company policy in a pragmatic way

  • Driving internal HR process improvement

  • Mentor junior members of the HR team

  • Travel will be required only occasionally

Skills and experience

  • You must have HRBP experience within a professional and commercial organization.

  • You should also be self-confident, enthusiastic and a self-motivating go getter. You will have experience in mentoring and supporting managers or staff in achieving optimum performance.

  • You will have a proactive and positive attitude as you will be involved with their continuous improvement agenda.

  • In addition, a pragmatic and commercial approach will be required to drive real value

  • Employee relations - Robust experience of managing a full spectrum of ER cases through to completion with the ability and confidence to coach line managers and leaders around staff issues and outcomes (Manage ER issues (higher level / complex cases)

  • Employment policy - Ability to interpret and apply company HR policy and procedures on a practical level and also develop, communicate and implement HR policies that align to our Company values

  • Employment Law - Up to date knowledge and application of employment legislation

  • Demonstrate strong listening, communication, organizational and prioritization skills, excellent attention to detail, adaptability and flexibility

  • Be a catalyst for change, using influence and judgement to drive business performance and results

  • Good data analysis and reporting skills

We are currently operating a hybrid/flexible working policy. 8 days per month in the office, colleagues are welcome to come in more frequently if they prefer.
